Will
people accept me?
Glade
Church is a friendly congregation where guests are always greeted
warmly and made to feel welcome. Our congregation has people of
all ages and faith backgrounds seeking spiritual enrichment and
fellowship with the whole people of God. So no matter who you are,
or where you are on life’s journey, you will find a home here.

Is
your church handicapped accessible?
Glade
Church is handicap friendly! Our church and facilities are handicapped
accessible. Glade Church’s front door and rear parking lot
door each have handicapped accessible ramps and entrances and have
designated fully accessible parking places near them to provide
unhampered access to the sanctuary, social room, classrooms, church
office, kitchen, and fully accessible bathrooms. Handicapped accessible
ramps have smooth handrails 32 inches above their surfaces. For
wheelchair users, doorways have clear openings of at least 32 inches,
doors have lever or push handles, and sanctuary seating will rearrange
easily so wheelchair users can sit with the congregation, not just
in front or back, or in the aisles. This flexible seating provides
legroom for those using crutches, walkers, braces, or casts. All
bathrooms are fully handicapped accessible. If you need special
assistance, please ask and we will be happy to help.

serving on teams and as part of the church leadership and ministry.

Do
you have childcare?
Yes!
But it is more than a babysitting service! Glade Church believes
in children’s ministry. We are committed to having a safe,
secure, and stimulating environment for all children who come to
Glade Church. For infants, we provide a safe, cozy nursery. For
every age group through high school, we provide fun, hands-on Bible
lessons and activities every Sunday morning, which are designed
to engage children into learning the truths of the Bible. Our children’s
ministry leaders value every child and treat them with the greatest
care and attention. Ask the person who greets you at the door to
help you find the right ministry for your child and they will be
glad to assist you.

What
do you believe about the Bible?
The
Bible is a record of the history of God’s saving actions in
history and the world. We believe the Bible is an inspired human
record of an ancient community’s reflections on their experience
with God. The Bible is a starting place for all that we say and
do. It is the foundational text for sermons, study programs and
learning activities. We always set these texts and stories along
side our own lives and stories.

What
is the preaching like?
At
Glade Church, our pastor bases his sermons on God’s Word in
all its truth without watering anything down, but does it in love,
and in ways you will find interesting, engaging, and relevant to
your daily life. Pastor Gerry Hanberry connects the stories of God’s
unconditional love (as revealed in Jesus Christ) for all humankind
with our stories of hurt, pain, joy and hope. Attend one of our
worship services to hear the truths of God’s Word presented
passionately, clearly, and lovingly in ways that will make sense
to you. The pastor does not stand behind a pulpit and read his sermon.
He comes out before the people without notes and uses story-telling
and vivid images that engage and inspire.

What
kind of music do you sing?
Many
people ask this question. We know that people’s taste in music
varies greatly. At Glade Church, we believe that God inspires people
to write hymns and songs of praise that praises God and brings glory
to God’s name. For that reason, we offer a blend of traditional
and contemporary worship services praising God with great church
hymns of both past and present, as well as using a blend of music
styles to glorify God. Our worship services are enhanced with offerings
of praise and thanksgiving expressed through timeless music led
by our choir and occasionally talented soloists and instrumentalists.

|
|
What
sacraments do you recognize?
Glade
Church recognizes two sacraments, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
or Holy Communion. We do not ask or require persons who have had
a Christian baptism to be re-baptized, no matter the form or way
they were baptized. Everyone, including children, are welcome at
our communion table.

|
|
|
Are
you affiliated with any denomination?
Glade
Church is an affiliate of the United Church of Christ (UCC), which
is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination principally in the
United States, generally considered within the Reformed tradition,
and formed in 1957 by the merger of two denominations, the Evangelical
and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches. Founded
more than 256 years within the Reformed tradition, Glade Church
is a church for all people to join together to worship God and Jesus
Christ and be thankful for all the blessings they have received.
